Botox contains a protein called OnabotulinumtoxinA, which relaxes the targeted muscle by interacting with the nerve endings. As the underlying muscle is relaxed, the skin appears youthful and healthy, giving a refreshed and rejuvenated look. 

• In the initial consultation your concerns are understood and appointment for the procedure is fixed.
• You may need to stop taking sleeping tablets or any muscle relaxants a couple of days before the procedure.
• On the day of the procedure a topical anaesthesia is applied to the target area. However it is optional, since this procedure involves only a minor discomfort.
• A thin needle/microneedle is used to inject Botox or other such compounds (commercially called Dysport or Xeomin)
• The number of injections may vary depending on the size of the target area.

Depending upon the target area the entire procedure gets over in about 15-30 minutes.

 Minimal Time 

Normal activities can be resumed immediately after the procedure, however it is advised not to lie down or massage the treated area for upto 4 hours after the treatment. Makeup can be used after 6-8 hours.

Apart from this any other advice or precaution given by your specialist is to be followed.

Though the procedure is highly safe when performed by an experienced specialist, however there is a minor risk of mild side effects, which are temporary. These risks include:

• Mild swelling at the site of injection (usually subsides after 15-30 minutes)
• Excessive tearing up of eyes / dry eyes
• Droopy eyelids

• Asymmetrical expression 
• Muscles weakness

• Visual problems

NOTE: If the following effects are noted after a few hours to days after the botox injection contact your specialist immediately as it may be due to spread of the botulinum toxin (usually due to improper after care). Some of the effects wear off over time and some can be corrected by the specialist by giving few adjustment doses

 No, it is not very painful, though there might be mild discomfort while injecting. There is an option of reducing this by applying ice or a numbing cream before injecting.

Usually seen a few days after the procedure. The results start appearing after 1-2 days, with maximal response being seen after 2 weeks. 

The resuts last
